Report: Exploring post pandemic workplace shifts in India

Learn more about post pandemic workplace shifts in India

Multiple Indian companies are likely to adopt flexible work-life design as a post-pandemic aftereffect. Business leaders are poised to handle the challenges of on-site and off-site work equity as it ties back into the critical question of performance measurement metrics. Between culture and Covid-19, there are multiple nuances to consider, such as mental health, presenteeism and visibility, implementation across all levels, speed of innovation, and efficiency.

As the downloadable report notes, leadership teams in Indian companies face an uphill task of striking the right balance when it comes to work from home (WFH) policies for their respective workforce without compromising integrity, equity, and efficiency.

Renovating work-life design

In current times, one of the biggest challenges for Indian companies is designing an operating framework for hybrid working that addresses performance management, is inclusive, drives innovation, and encourages brainstorming while at the same time possessing a supportive policy structure that is segmented and individualized. This will need constant review and a feedback mechanism to respond to the challenges of income generation, employee job satisfaction, and health safety measures.

Industry experts believe that technology will be a great enabler for the next generation of work collaboration. Furthermore, it will be imperative for managers to maintain the emotional quotient in all contexts as they ensure equal workplace practices and implement necessary training programs to help leaders adopt a hybrid setup with their teams.

Emerging trends based on forum hosted by NielsenIQ and The Conference Board of Asia

In March 2022, NielsenIQ India and The Conference Board of Asia hosted a session with business leaders to gain insights on how employers across Asia are addressing challenges that have arisen from the hybrid work model, on women and caregivers. This session aimed to explore actions that could effectively mitigate the gender-based impact of remote work and deliberate on measures required for companies to remain agile and responsive to employee needs.

Culture and mindset shifts play a vital role in achieving implementation of balanced work distribution, policies, and safe working environments for employees. The forum agreed to encourage male allies and champions across levels to garner support for remote work policies, as one of the best practices for creating a holistic work-culture for employees.
