Investment returns as nightlife businesses adapt to change
Confidence about the future of Britain’s late-night economy is rising amid signs of stability in outlet numbers and the arrival of a new Prime Minister.
The latest edition of the Night Time Economy Market Monitor from NIQ and the Night Time Industries Association reveals the number of bars, clubs, casinos and similar late-night venues rose by 0.4% between March and June 2026. It is the first quarter-on-quarter growth for two years and a significant improvement on a 28.7% drop in the number of late-night venues since the pre-COVID levels of March 2020.
The exclusive report shows particular resilience in bar numbers, which have risen by 1.3% year-on-year. One in nine bars in Britain has opened in the last 12 months – an encouraging sign of confidence among entrepreneurs and investors.
