TETRIS is an AI solution to extract merchandising rules from existing planograms

Chicago – Dec. 5, 2024: NielsenIQ, the world’s leading consumer intelligence company, is pleased to announce its collaboration with LTPlabs, a member of the NIQ Partner Network and a consulting firm specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Analytics, to develop an innovative add-on to NIQ’s retail space planning tool, Spaceman Automation. TETRIS, developed by LTPlabs, efficiently transitions retailers to automatic planogram generation. This new component extracts merchandising rules from existing manual planograms and directly integrates them into NIQ Spaceman’s workflow, accelerating the transition.  
This collaboration will enhance NIQ’s ability to deliver exceptional value to retailers by streamlining the creation of automated store-specific planograms. Integrating TETRIS with NIQ’s Spaceman solution empowers retailers with data-driven insights and advanced tools to design more efficient and customer-centric shelf layouts. 
TETRIS leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning techniques to identify the planogram’s main aggregations of products and determine its implementation rules, such as location, implementation criteria, sequence within each criterion, and implementation direction. This information is crucial for Spaceman Automation to successfully generate planograms automatically.  Key benefits of using TETRIS include:

  • Reducing the time and effort required to gather and input merchandising rules into Spaceman Automation. 
  • Leveraging AI and insights from past successful planogram generations to identify key product groupings among all criteria. 
  • Support from an experienced team for the creation and optimization of rules for Spaceman Automation.
