GfK’s Map of the Month for September illustrates the regional distribution of 2021 brick-and-mortar retail turnover in Germany.
GfK forecasts a turnover volume of €435.4 bil. for Germany’s brick-and-mortar retail in 2021. Compared to the revised value of the pre-Corona year 2019, this equates to an increase of €12.3 bil. and thus to a nominal plus of 2.9 percent. Brick-and-mortar retail turnover is most concentrated in Germany’s districts with the largest populations. With 4.42 percent, Berlin has the highest share of total brick-and-mortar retail turnover, followed by Hamburg (2.63 percent) and Munich (2.52 percent).
