Women general counsels from six major companies discuss the influence clients can wield to encourage parity
GfK’s Anna Maria Vitek, SVP and General Counsel for the Americas, will be joining five other women general counsels (GCs) at a New York City Bar panel discussion tonight. The topic for the evening will be “The Power of the Purse: How Women General Counsel Supporting Women Outside Counsel Makes Good Business Sense.”
Along with Vitek, GCs from Louis Vuitton, TravelZoo, NBCUniversal, New York Life Insurance, and Magnetic will tell why gender diversity is important to their companies when they seek outside counsel.
The panel, moderated by Judith Archer (Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright), will take place at the New York City Bar, 42 West 44th Street, 2nd floor, beginning at 6PM.

Although most law firms have adopted programs and policies to promote gender parity, progress has been slow. The panel will help demonstrate how pressure from clients – “the power of the purse” – can be wielded by general counsel to move the needle on gender equality.
Vitek’s responsibilities at GfK include supervising and managing the company’s Legal Department in the Americas and supporting its Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. She also helps to structure, negotiate, and document mergers and acquisitions on a global basis while managing external counsel in North America and Latin America.
Vitek holds a BA in Political Science from Columbia College, Columbia University, and a JD from the Columbia University School of Law. She is fully tri-lingual, speaking English, Spanish and Portuguese.
