NielsenIQ Appoints New CPS Strategic Projects and Iberia Lead



  • With a long track record in the industry, Luis Simoes will drive the global growth strategy of the consumer panel business, starting with Spain and Portugal.   

Madrid, September 25, 2024 – NielsenIQ (NIQ), the world’s leading consumer intelligence company, has appointed Luis Simoes as the new CPS Strategic Projects and Iberia Lead. In his new position, Luis Simoes will drive the growth strategy of the Consumer Panel business in Spain and Portugal, develop NIQ’s product offering, enhance the integrated Discover platform and support the growth of the local team of experts. 

To create winning strategies, FMCG manufacturers and retailers need a full understanding of both consumer demand and supply in physical and digital stores. Together with Retail Measurement Services, NIQ’s Consumer Panel Services (CPS) provides the most complete and clear understanding of consumers and retailers.  As part of NIQ’s ambitious investment plan in Europe, the consumer panel in Spain will grow from 8,000 to 12,000 panelists by 2025. Customers can access the data through the Discover platform, powered by AI and the only platform available that fully integrates consumer and retailer data. 

Luis Simoes, with over 25 years of industry experience, brings a wealth of expertise. He has held several senior positions globally, including as Global Strategy Director at Kantar Worldpanel, where he played a key role in its largest transformation. This included the acquisition of Numerator in the U.S., the integration of advanced technologies, and the launch of new services such as Usage, Out of Home, and Media ROI. 

Luis will remain based in Barcelona, where he has joined NIQ’s newly expanded and strengthened team. Following the merger with GfK, the team is now headquartered in the Nexus building in Pedralbes, at the heart of the city’s innovation hub.
