Our Geomarketing Map of the Month for February shows the regional distribution of young households in Germany in 2025.

According to the latest NIQ study on demographics, Heidelberg has the highest share of young households nationwide. In this university city, the head of household is under 30 years old in nearly 24 percent of all households – which is more than twice the national average.

Across Germany, the share of households in which the person with the highest net income is under 30 stands at 11.21 percent, with the Alb-Donau-Kreis district being the region closest to this national value.

The lowest shares of young households are found in rural areas. At the bottom of the ranking is the Spree‑Neisse district, where only 4.92 percent of household heads are younger than 30.
