London, 9 October 2024: NIQ, the world’s leading consumer intelligence company, today announces that it has completed the doubling of its UK Homescan sample for its Consumer Panel Service (CPS) with the number of NIQ households having increased from 15,000 to 30,000.
NIQ’s Consumer Panel Services (CPS) track, diagnose, and analyse consumer shopping behaviour. This ranges from understanding how brands, retailers and categories perform and identifying the key drivers of behind that performance. It also uniquely unpicks shopper behaviour to understand the impact that the millions of different shopping decisions have for brand owners, suppliers and retailers. Its Homescan service is designed to offer the most complete and validated measurement of purchasing behaviour across the FMCG landscape and the service of choice for many of the major players in the UK FMCG industry, helping brands, suppliers and retailers find and win the shoppers they need to grow.
The Homescan panel expansion is now live in the UK market, with similar sample expansions going live in France, Italy Spain and Germany from the first quarter of 2025. Across the five markets this adds 42,000 barcode scanning panellists; unlocking more precise, granular, and reliable decision-making utility than ever before.
Karl Brady, Consumer Panel Market Leader at NIQ, said: “In our latest Homescan data we see ongoing fragmentation in shopping habits, including where and how we shop, what we buy and why we buy. Our latest data* shows UK households shopping for groceries almost five times a week, and over 12 weeks visiting an average of eight different grocery retail stores, and shopping across as many as over 70 different categories – this shows the scale of the many ongoing challenges that our retail and manufacturer clients are constantly navigating.
Brady continues: “With this in mind, the importance of finding and winning shoppers to drive growth has never been greater – and doing this with the confidence of precision to tackle these challenges. At NIQ we are continuing to invest significantly in our retail and consumer proposition, and this latest upgrade to CPS helps ensure we continue to offer the strongest and most validated and reliable insights for our clients in the market.”
The panel expansion builds on NIQ’s commitment to deliver the Full View™, the world’s most complete and clear understanding of consumer buying behaviour, leveraging NIQ’s unique portfolio of data assets to deliver the most sophisticated and reliable insight into consumer behaviour and retail measurement. On every level, from collection, to production, to output and analytics, leveraging the synergy of consumer panel and retail measurement data sources, it delivers a more accurate, more stable and more layered understanding of what is needed to win shoppers.
Already in 2024, NIQ delivered against this mission by launching Discover for CPS powered by Panel on Demand to all clients in every region in the world. Panel on Demand Discover delivers a truly on-demand user experience with the broadest available performance metrics and analytical modules in the market. It is also the only platform to present consumer panel and retail measurement data side by side, further supporting brands, suppliers and retailers to differentiate and win in an ever-competitive environment.
